A Commitment to Growth

A few months ago a friend of mine made the passing comment to me, "Carlos, you have to look out for your health. If you don't show concern for your well-being no one else will." That statement hit me like a ton of bricks and set me on a course for personal growth in all aspects of my life - thus, Living Branch Health & Wellness was born.

For years in my life I was very active physically, mentally, and spiritually. Then about 3 years ago my physical health took a turn for the worse. I developed blood clots and asthma. I did not know it at the time, but was told later that I came very close to dieing. Afterward, I walked with a cane for some time and became rather sedentary. I tried to walk a little and play some golf, but I was not doing much more than that. I became very sloppy in my habits and my eating. After my friend shared those words of wisdom with me, I had to ask myself, "Is this the way that God wants me to treat the 'temple' he has given me?" I also began to consider what type of example I was setting for my daughters. Right then and there I made a commitment to myself, my family, my friends, and God that I was going to pursue growth in all areas of my life. What is more, I pledged to help other people do the same.

So what has this commitment led to so far? I have committed to a workout plan (P90X), cleaned up my eating (including adding more organic and whole foods, eating 5 small meals throughout the day, and following a meal plan from beachbody.com), and drinking Shakeology. These moves have led to me losing 25 lbs, dropping my body fat from 31% to 19%, and most importantly feeling about 10 years younger! I have also been able to get my family into the act and reconnect with several old friends. We have started an open Fit Club at our church and we are sharing my story all around. I am staying committed to growing and would love to help anyone else do the same. If you have a question about anything or need some info or support in health and wellness just leave a comment. Here's to your heath and wellness!

Awesome, inspirational story, my man! There are many more people out there in similar situations. Set the intention that you will connect with them!
